Oct. 1 & 2 – Grand Opening Weekend – Punkin’ Chunkin’!

Punkin Chunkin

Oct. 1 & 2 Punkin’ Chunkin’ World Champion “Team Carbo of Raleigh, NC will be demonstrating their catapult, The Onager, and slinging pumpkins up to 2000 feet! Some say it’s the team, others say it’s the machine, but Susan Sink, Owner of Sinkland Farms, says it’s the pumpkins that have “gone the distance”. White pumpkins are grown at Sinkland, the preference of most catapult teams. These, along with all varieties, shapes, colors and sizes of pumpkins, squash and gourds are grown on the farm for sale during the autumn season.

ARTIST APPEARANCE and Sinkland Farms/Feeding America print unveiling

The artist P. Buckley Moss was asked how long it takes for her to paint a picture. “My whole life,” she said. For Pat, it is this lifelong passion and belief that is expressed in her work, giving us a collection of art that is filled with a lifetime of experiences: from her Irish-Italian heritage to her urban art school education, the laughter of her children, and the simplicity of birds flying south for the winter.

Annual Pumpkin Festival at Sinkland Farms

Other attractions include local arts and crafts on display and sale, performances by local dance troupes, the annual exhibition of Team Carbo and the Onager (a world champion trebouchet for pumpkin hurling) and surprise visits by the incredible, 12-foot-tall iron HokieTRON.

There will be even more special features and attractions every weekend, all included with admission, such as performances by the Virginia Tech and Radford University Dance Clubs, roving musicians and A Capella singing groups. The Southwest Virginia Birds of Prey will provide a special presentation. Kids run wild (literally) in the Kidz Zone (with supervision, of course). The New River Valley Cruisers will be cruising in during the season. Also, for an additional fee, there are pony carts, pony rides, and horseback trail rides.

Sinkland’s home style Kettle Korn is not to be missed and you can also sample delicious home baked goods or cool down with traditional, scrumptious hand-dipped ice cream.

You will find “best in class” quality pumpkins and squash in many varieties, shapes, sizes and colors grown in our fields, ready for picking for fall decorating and Halloween lanterns. The autumn season brings special prices for all our pumpkins. Plus, we will have some extraordinary sizes and varieties picked for sale. Hay and straw bales, corn shocks and large colorful mums are also available to create your spectacular seasonal display.

The Pumpkin Festival is open every weekend, Saturdays and Sundays in October, Saturdays are from 10am to 5 pm, Sundays from 1 pm to 5 pm. The Sinkland Farms Pumpkin Festival is a family tradition! Bring YOUR family this fall!

They have so many wedding and reception styles and locations to choose from. It is absolutely breathtaking! RSVPs increase by 50+ the week before wedding? My wife, Zachary, and I all had a great time at the festival today! This was our first visit and we’ll definitely be coming back again.

My family and I (wife and 2 kids–6yr and 3yr) had a wonderful time. Friendly people working, great atmosphere, and plenty of fun activities to keep both us and the kids occupied and happy.
Luke
Our family had a great time opening weekend at the pumpkin farm! My son (2) really enjoyed his tractor ride, pony ride, and petting zoo!!! Of course…

I highly recommend this venue!
Wendy
Sinkland Farms has you covered! Susan’s team is phenomenal, they are all super friendly and very detail oriented! Susan has so many decorations and props to choose from we didn’t have to purchase anything extra for our daughter’s wedding. The day was perfect from start to finish!
Chris
Love this place, thinking of having my wedding here!!
Stephanie
I don’t think you realize what you provide to the community. Even though we live in Blacksburg, a rural area, my children would never have seen nor experienced a farm and what a real turkey looks and sounds like, what the difference is between a goat and sheep, the many varieties of chickens….except from TV or a story book. Thank you Sinkland Farms!
Kerry
An awesome venue for a wedding or special event. The place and the people are great to work with!
Benjamin
Thank you for inviting us to be a part of your farm, we’ve enjoyed all the entertainment and activities. It’s a wonderful place for family fun.
Woodchuck Woodcarvings
Wow! I have been coming to Sinkland Farms for about 5 years now and it gets better and better every year!!! We took 5 pumpkins home this year to carve…

Experience Sinkland Farms

Bounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains and rolling hills framing green pastures, the view at Sinkland Farms is dramatic. Once a thriving dairy farm, today its pastoral tranquility is peaceful with nature and the environment.

In the last few years, the Sink Family has evolved the 125 acre farm into an epicenter for memorable family and special events as it continues as a working pumpkin and beef farm.

Thank you to our longtime guests and our new friends, who give us purpose and an opportunity to share our daily inspirations and life’s work.
