It's pumpkin time again! And the Sinkland Farms Pumpkin Festival is back, with autumn fun for the whole family! Sinkland Farms, featuring the annual Pumpkin Festival, has been named a "Best Farm" to visit by Blue Ridge Country Magazine, which highlights "best places" across seven southern states.

The Pumpkin Festival is known as "a family tradition" and offers many family-friendly attractions for the young and young at heart, including hayrides to the pumpkin fields to pick your own "great pumpkin," a brain-twisting corn maze, farmyard animals, and fantastic live music on two great stages every weekend afternoon.

Other attractions include local arts and crafts on display and sale, roving acapella singing groups and musicians, performances by local dance troupes, and surprise visits by the incredible, 10-foot-tall iron HokieTRON. Team Carbo, the world champion "punkin chunkin" team, will bring their fearsome Trebouchet Onager catapult to fling pumpkins on October 4 and 5. The New River Valley Cruisers will have a “cruise in” on October 18 and Art in the Barn, scheduled for October 25-26, will feature a talented group of local artisans.

During 2014, there will be even more special features and attractions every weekend, all included with admission, such as performances by the Virginia Tech and Radford University Dance Clubs. Roving musicians and A Capella singing groups. The Southwest Virginia Birds of Prey will show October 11. Kids run wild (literally) in the Kidz Zone (with supervision, of course). The New River Valley Cruisers will be crusing in and Art in the Barn is scheduled for October 25-26. For an additional fee, there are pony carts, pony rides, and horseback trail rides.

Sinkland's Kettle Korn is not to be missed and also you can sample delicious home baked goods or cool down with traditional, scrumptious hand-dipped ice cream.

You will find magazine and "best in class" quality pumpkins and squash in many varieties, shapes, sizes and colors in our fields, ready for picking for fall decorating and halloween lanterns. The 2014 autumn season brings new lower prices for all our pumpkins, there will be no pumpkins picked in the field, priced over $8.00. (We will have some extra special sizes and varieties picked on display/sale with slightly higher that you can purchase as well.) Hay and straw bales, corn shocks and large colorful mums are also available to create a spectacular seasonal display.

The Pumpkin Festival is open every weekend, Saturdays and Sundays, starting September 27-28 and running through October 25-26. Saturdays are from 10am to 5 pm, Sundays from 1 pm to 5 pm. The Sinkland Farms Pumpkin Festival is a family tradition! Bring YOUR family this fall! Please follow our facebook page.

Plus, kidz zone, pumpkins, décor, food, arts & crafts, sling shot pumpkins, horse & pony activities! All on a working farm with a focus on agriculture and conservation education.

. . .and the goblins will get you if you don’t watch out in the
Corn Maze “After Dark”

Some say ghosts and goblins linger among the corn stalks around Halloween and some say you can see them only in the moonlight. But if you listen closely, the wispy crackling sounds you hear are more than just the wind blowing through the corn maze. If you are brave enough to enter the maze after dark, you must bring a flash light to light up your path. You may not want to go alone so come in groups of 10 or more and huddle close or the goblins will get you if you don’t watch out!

The corn maze is open after dark on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. $5.00 per person. *Don’t forget your flashlight for the corn maze after 6 PM! Visit the Cottage Shoppe for your corn maze tickets from 5 - 8pm Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Evening Bonfire Parties

VT, RU, Roanoke, and Hollins College organizations, Chuch groups, and local scouts have made Sinkland Farms Bonfire Parties & Hayrides a longtime favorite tradition. Bring your group, nestle in on a bed of hay for a scenic hayride around the property. Groups come back to the Cottage Shoppe for hot apple cider and roast marshmallows around the fire. A second favorite scenario is a cozy bonfire under a zenith of stars with a dance party in the barn pavillion. Contact Sinkland Farms at to schedule your group party.
