Oct 7 & 8 - Amateur Dog Show with Prizes
We are excited to bring you our 2nd Amateur Dog Show this fall on October 7 AND 8. Bring your dogs/pets on a leash on Saturday and Sunday at 2pm in front of the Ice Cream Cottage. Now this isn't your average dog show-it's way more fun. We will be giving prizes for "Best Costume," "Best Tail Wag" and "Best Trick." Winners will receive a prize pack for their furry friend. We also have a special prize for the "Best Rescue." Judging starts at 2 pm in front of the Ice Cream Cottage on both days. Afterwards we will take a special hayride to the pumpkin patch to our "Love" sign so you have the perfect photo op for your pup!
The Reflections - Playing the hits that cause you to reflect on happy times and places! 1-4pm
NRV Rocketry - Rockets flying over Sinkland Farms - noon-4pm
Come spectate or fly a rocket for free! Just take the hay ride to the back hill and fly a rocket with New River Valley Rocketry (NRVR). We will have pre-built loaner rockets for kids to fly for free (one free flight per kid until we run out of motors). Loaner model rockets can either be returned to the NRV Rocketry guys, or be taken home for just $10. Stick around and get to see bigger rockets fly too!
NRVR has been flying high power rockets in the region since 2012, is nationally insured, has great rocketry launch pad & safety gear, as well as lots of engineers and knowledgeable people here to help get you started in exploring STEM and rocketry. They even have FAA clearance to fly the big stuff, like 10-12 footers! There is no charge but donations are always appreciated.
NRVR is also looking for a new launch site. If you know of any wide open fields to fly (~2k ft clear of trees & obstacles), they need an open field at least 5 miles form any airports and 1500 feet from any occupied building or 2 lane paved road. More info here - https://tinyurl.com/nrvr-new-site

Sinkland Farms 32nd Annual Pumpkin Festival
Each weekend is jam-packed with activities, live music, food, and fun for the whole family. Hayrides to a 10-acre pumpkin patch, make your way through a mind boggling 5 acre corn maze, and visit with Sinkland's farm animals. We feature Ride-a-Rescue horseback trail rides, pony rides, a huge kid’s zone with a barrel train ride, giant slide, kids zip line and many games. Kids of all ages can see tractors and our other farm equipment. Some attractions at extra charge. Have your face painter design a specialty to wear throughout the day. Plus, enjoy live music with adult beverages and food trucks on-site.
Everyone always enjoys Sinkland's entertainment such as blacksmith demonstrations, local live music, and Acapella groups. You can watch pig racing, and feast with local food trucks. The festival grounds include the area's most noted Arts & Crafts vendors and Pop-up Boutiques.
We have been voted the Best Pumpkin Patch in Virginia and Best Farm to Visit.
Admission:
Fridays - $12 per person, $11 seniors, military & first responders, free for children 3 and under.
Saturdays/Sundays - $15 per person, $14 seniors, military & first responders, free for children 3 and under.
Admission includes: parking, hayride to the pumpkin patch, corn maze, live music (Sat/Sun afternoon) and other entertainment, Kidz Zone games, access to food trucks and local vendors, and more!
